Sonny Dearest James Allan Donalson, 59, of Harris County, Texas, says his mother died because of a defective pacemaker. To prove that, when she died he cut the device out of her chest with a kitchen knife, and he will not tell authorities where it is. The coroner confirms the device was cut out after death, but he wants to examine it. Donalson, who cared for his ailing mother full time for the past 10 years, was jailed and told he faces 10 years in prison for “tampering with physical evidence” if he doesn’t turn over the pacemaker. Prosecutors promise to drop the charge if he gives it up. He refuses, and the situation is at a stalemate. (Houston Chronicle) Available in This is True: Book Collection Vol. 11
